ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tamana Aziz is a Director in the Private and Business Immigration department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. Since joining the firm in January 2018, she has built upon a distinguished career spanning over two decades, having provided immigration advice and assistance since 2001.
Tamana advises on a wide array of immigration matters, including business immigration, high-net-worth individual cases, skilled worker extensions, spouse and visit visa applications, Global Talent visas, and British citizenship. Her practice is distinguished by its depth in complex litigation; she regularly appears before the Immigration Tribunals, the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court in matters involving deportation appeals and country guidance cases.
Her expertise extends to both individual and corporate clients. She is a trusted advisor to employers and external organisations, delivering bespoke training on Home Office compliance, including the Prevention of Illegal Working Regime and the online sponsorship management system. Internally, she is responsible for training solicitors across Duncan Lewis on a variety of immigration law topics.
Recognised for her handling of high-profile, complex litigation—including matters that have reached the Supreme Court—Tamana is frequently sought after by the media. She appears regularly on television, radio, and in the UK press to provide expert legal commentary. Her courtroom advocacy has been judicially recognised; she was described as “an admirable solicitor and advocate” by the Court of Appeal in the landmark case of HS Afghanistan.
Tamana holds a Supervisor and Level 2 Senior Caseworker accreditation under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. She is also instructed as an expert by local authorities, social services, and family lawyers to provide opinions on the immigration status of children and parents involved in care proceedings.
In addition to her practice, Tamana is deeply committed to legal education and mentorship. She is a contributor to the legal textbook Immigration Law and Practice, published in collaboration with CILEX Education and former Immigration Judge Richard McKee. She authored three chapters (13, 14, and 15), focusing on the essential attributes and practices of an effective immigration lawyer. She serves as an official mentor for students at the University of Westminster’s Law School and runs pro bono clinics with King’s College London and the Afghanistan and Central Asia Association.
Tamana is recognised as a leading practitioner in the legal directories. She is a ‘Recommended Individual’ in The Legal 500 2026, where she is described as “the all-rounder rockstar. She is incredibly knowledgeable, experienced and solution-driven… excellent in advising commercial clients on the immigration/employment law crossover.” She is also ranked in Chambers UK 2026, where sources note: “Tamana has excellent and in-depth understanding, always aware of the trends and legislations, and is very professional.”
