Description

Interim relief is the hot topic sweeping the employment law world – and this book explains everything you need to know about it.

Until recently, applications for interim relief were so rare that few employment lawyers had even heard of them. Suddenly, in part thanks to AI, there has been an explosion of interim relief claims, and employers, and their lawyers, are scrambling to respond.

In this, the first dedicated book on the subject, Catherine Urquhart explains how to apply for interim relief, the relevant legal tests, how an employer should resist an application, practical advice about what happens at the hearing, and detailed guidance about the possible outcomes.

This book helps both claimants and respondents, their lawyers, and HR professionals. Interim relief hearings come around fast – you could be dealing with one next week – so buy this book now to ensure you are fully prepared.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Catherine Urquhart is a former journalist who switched careers and is now a barrister specialising in employment law. Based at 42BR Barristers in London, she regularly appears at hearings in Employment Tribunals across England and Wales, and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal, representing both claimants and respondents in a wide range of employment matters.

Unfair dismissal, discrimination, and whistleblowing cases are the mainstays of her practice, and increasingly she is instructed to represent parties at interim relief hearings – hence her decision to write this book.

In her former career she spent nearly 20 years as a journalist, including ten years at The Times, and finds the skills she learned on newspapers – such as interviewing and listening to people, arguing with the editor, and getting to grips with large amounts of information in a short time – translate well to her work as a barrister.
